Improvement of management of wild ungulate species

Biology research and analysis can define the range of needs for the wolf population. However, a sound management decision regarding hunting management of the wolf prey requires also taking into account the socio-economic aspects of wildlife management.

The best way to achieve this is to directly involve participants of different interest groups. Participation of different interests in decision-making will also aid the implementation of those decisions. Since this action includes close cooperation of groups which traditionally do not communicate, a neutral professional facilitator is necessary in order to overcome potential mistrust among the participants. With this action we will directly address threats No. 1 and No. 2

Workshops will be organized with the representatives of all the important interest groups (hunters, foresters, biologists, agronomists) and the decision-makers. Data collected and prepared under the Action A.3, as well as the degree of the public support to the different management options (results of the Action A.6), will be presented to the participants. Participants will then be asked to define by consensus necessary steps, which will help integrate the needs of the carnivores into the hunting system.
