Life program

LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental and nature conservation projects throughout the EU, as well as in some candidate, acceding and neighbouring countries. Since 1992, LIFE has co-financed some 3115 projects, contributing approximately €2 billion to the protection of the environment.

The programme is divided into three different areas: LIFE+ Nature and Biodiversity, LIFE+ Environmental Policy and Governance, and LIFE+ Information and Communication. The area LIFE+ Nature and Biodiversity supports projects which contribute to the implementation of the Birds and Habitats Directives of the EU and to halting the loss of biodiversity.

The project Conservation and surveillance of the conservation status of the wolf (Canis lupus) population in Slovenia falls under the area LIFE+ Nature and Biodiversity.
